At Datnexa, our foundational role in creating the EHCP Plus brand represents an early phase of our Emerging Technology Product Strategy journey. As the original product design and brand partner, starting in late 2023 and formalised in April 2024, we undertook the comprehensive responsibility of establishing the complete visual identity, securing intellectual property rights, and developing the brand marque that would become synonymous with innovative educational healthcare planning. It was also conceptually entwined with the premise of the tool.
Design Philosophy and Brand Creation
The EHCP Plus brand identity that we developed centers on simplicity and clarity, recognising that users often navigate complex educational and healthcare information. Our design process reflected a deep understanding of both sectors while prioritising user experience through generous white space and clean, uncluttered aesthetics that help users focus on essential functionality.
The Child at the Center - Our Design Innovation
Our logo design process began with a fundamental concept that would become our signature element - a child silhouette as the core component. This strategic choice evolved into an innovative network design, representing the collaborative nature of EHCP drafting and the importance of multiple perspectives. This wasn't merely aesthetic consideration; it was purposeful design thinking that aligned perfectly with the product's educational mission.
The logo incorporates our clever design innovation where the plus symbol is constructed from four human figures - a subtle detail that reveals itself upon closer inspection. This design choice reinforces the collaborative nature of the tool while maintaining visual sophistication.

Strategic Colour Development
The distinctive teal blue colorway represents our strategic design choice, expertly bridging the traditional darker blues of education with the greens associated with healthcare. This hybrid approach showcases Datnexa's cross-sector expertise, spanning education, regulation, and healthcare - a visual representation of our comprehensive understanding of the EHCP Plus market landscape.
Typography and Accessibility Excellence
Our brand employs Dosis Medium font, which we selected for its:
Professional yet approachable character
Clean, clinical appearance that inspires confidence
Strong legibility across all applications
Comprehensive accessibility considerations
Comprehensive Brand System Development
Our brand system demonstrates remarkable flexibility through its ability to work effectively in both positive and negative applications, featuring:
Teal on white background configurations
White text on teal background variations
Both applications maintain excellent legibility while preserving the calm, professional aesthetic we crafted
Establishing Wider Visual Identity
Beyond the core logo, Datnexa developed the complete visual ecosystem for EHCP Plus, including comprehensive brand guidelines, application standards, and usage protocols. As part of our intellectual property development, we secured trademark applications and established comprehensive brand protection for this distinctive marque. This wider visual identity work ensures consistent brand representation across all touchpoints, from digital platforms to printed materials, establishing a cohesive and professional presence in the market.
This later went on to inspire the derivative Plus innovation logo set as used in CHC Plus, a relative minor amend in colour that was made by Datnexa design in July 2024.
Our Partnership Commitment
Under the terms of our formal partnership with Outcomes Matter Consulting Ltd, and the original technology partners WRITER and later Agilysis Transform, Datnexa assumed the crucial duty of obligation as the brand design partner. This responsibility extended far beyond simple logo creation - we were tasked with building an entire brand ecosystem that would support the EHCP Plus productised service in enhancing the effectiveness of Educational Health and Care Plans.
This comprehensive approach to brand creation and intellectual property development reflects Datnexa's unwavering commitment to innovation while ensuring practical functionality and user-centered design principles. As we evolve we are taking the lessons learned from this early phase project and now applying it to our client base under a project or retained support basis - helping them establish product strategy, design and IP for their own company using our experience of defining our own.
EHCP Plus Tools now
The Agilisys EHCP Tool is a generative AI-powered solution designed to help local councils draft Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) more efficiently and consistently. It saves around six hours per plan by automating the first draft creation, supports SEND caseworkers with best-practice aligned suggestions, quality assurance features, and integrates evidence and statutory compliance. The tool enhances communication between schools and local authorities and improves overall plan quality while reducing administrative workload.
The Nexa EHCP Plus tool, developed by GovMetric in partnership with Outcomes Matter, automates the drafting of EHCPs by transforming assessment reports and supporting evidence into draft plans following statutory standards. It comes with a comprehensive four-month implementation program, including local customization, whole-system engagement, and ongoing expert support. Nexa EHCP Plus focuses on improving compliance with statutory deadlines, reducing backlogs, enhancing plan quality, and freeing up SEND teams to focus more on families and children. It is hosted securely in UK data centers and supports secure access features.
